Erin West's Powerful Congressional Testimony

Yesterday was one for the memory book, starting with Paul Brigner’s fantastic PGP* (Pretty Good Policy) for Crypto breakfast. I finally met Christian Narvaez in person 🤩, and enjoyed my monthly bacon plate with Kristopher Klaich. The lineup of speakers was great, but let's be real—the bacon stole the show. 😆

Then came the highlight of the year: watching my friend Erin West absolutely crush her testimony in front of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services. The hearing on pig butchering scams featured Erin, Scott R. from Treasury, Dara Daniels from FinCEN, and Matt N. from the Secret Service, all of whom did an outstanding job. Matt’s analogy of crypto as a highway, where setting the right “speed limits” helps distinguish good drivers from bad, was brilliant.

But Erin stole the show, bringing her passion and authenticity as she spoke truth to power for a full hour. She made powerful recommendations: a national strategy, a leader or “Fraud/Scam Czar,” a centralized data repository, more funding and resources, and better federal, state, and local collaboration. Her sense of urgency was palpable, and Congressman Zach Nunn’s “Let’s go get ‘em!” high-five moment was unforgettable.

We couldn’t be prouder—our Shero brought home the gold! 🥇 Huge thanks to Jason Brett at Key Bridge Advisors for his invaluable support during Erin’s preparation, and to Owen and the team at Charlie Palmer Steak House for the perfect celebration.

Erin, you inspire us all. Thank you for fighting the good fight to protect families and friends from financial crime. You are a true light in this world, and your dedication is a gift to so many. 💜
